Roof Insulation Replacement in Savannah, GA

Roof insulation replacement project in Savannah, GA, requiring roof removal to access and replace insulation.

See how Roof Doctors of Georgia partnered with a roofing contractor to replace insulation in a difficult-to-access, low-pitched Savannah roof.

When You Can't Access the Insulation From Below, You Go Through the Roof

Not every insulation job is straightforward.

Sometimes the biggest challenge isn't the insulation itself. It's figuring out how to reach it.

That's exactly what happened on a recent project in Savannah, Georgia, where a home's small, low-pitched roof created an unusual challenge for our team at Roof Doctors of Georgia.

There simply wasn't enough room to approach this insulation replacement like a typical attic project.

So, we worked with a roofing contractor to come up with another solution.

Sometimes, the Only Way In Is From Above

Low-pitched roofs can make insulation projects particularly challenging because of the limited space between the roof and the ceiling.

For this Savannah home, we needed a way to remove the existing insulation and install new insulation without the access normally available in a traditional attic.

Rather than letting the limited space prevent us from completing the project, we partnered with a roofing contractor who could provide access from above.

The roofing team removed the roof, giving our crew the opening we needed to remove the existing insulation.

But getting the old insulation out was only half the challenge.

Working Together to Get the Job Done

Once the existing insulation was removed, we had to figure out how to install the replacement without having the wind carry it away.

That's where coordinating with the roofing contractor made all the difference.

The roofing team rebuilt the roof approximately halfway, creating a barrier that allowed our crew to blow the new insulation into the space while reducing wind exposure.

This coordinated approach gave us the access and protection we needed to complete the insulation installation.

It wasn't a typical insulation replacement, but it was a practical solution for a challenging roof design.

Every Home Requires the Right Approach

Homes throughout Savannah and Coastal Georgia come in all shapes, sizes and architectural styles.

Some have spacious attics with easy access. Others have low-pitched roofs, tight spaces or construction features that make traditional insulation installation difficult.

The important thing is finding an approach that works for the home.

In this case, coordinating the roofing and insulation work allowed us to remove and replace insulation in an area that would otherwise have been difficult to access.

It also demonstrates why planning and communication between contractors can be so important on projects involving multiple parts of a home's roofing and insulation system.
